Ron Black - President

Ron is a life long volunteer, entrepreneur, and retired Respiratory Therapist. Ron is a former two term Selwyn Township Councillor and current Provincial Appointee to the SE Police Services Board.  Ron currently serves on the boards of Community Futures Peterborough, Four Counties Addictions Services and Treatment and ALS Client Services Advisory Committee.  Ron was the founding Chair of the St. Joseph’s Care Foundation and the Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation supporting Family Health Teams.

Dewi Jones - Past President

Dewi emigrated to Canada in 1968. Over the next  50 years he volunteered in minor sports, and other interests. Following the passing of his wife in June 2009,  Dewi canvassed for the Kidney Foundation raising in excess of $20k.  His community contribution, was to organize outings for his peers, terminating  with the annual Pantomime in Stirling in November 2019.  Over the last 3 years, Dewi’s goal  has been to establish the Abbeyfield Retirement House  for middle income seniors in Lakefield, Ontario.

Mark White - Treasurer

Mark is a certified accountant, CPA, CMA and has held senior positions with a number of organizations, including The Canadian Tire Dealers Association, Wendy’s Restaurants  and Pepsico Food Service International. Mark moved to Peterborough County in 2020 and is excited to be part of the group that will bring more affordable senior living to the Lakefield community.

Lynda Parsons - Secretary

Lynda is a retired language teacher with extensive executive management experience.  Lynda’s  ability to organize, manage and maintain project communications is a benefit to overall success of the Abbeyfield House Society of Lakefield project.

 

Hans Kamping - Director

  Hans completed a 40-year career with Peterborough Utilities Corporation as the Superintendent of Water Distribution.  His experience with site development, services and construction will be a great asset as we move closer to the construction phase of our project.

Bill Ratcliff - Director

 Bill has a degree in mechanical engineering and had a career in technical sales with The Timken Company. When Bill moved to Lakefield in 2006, he joined the Lions Club.  Approximately three years ago,  Bill got interested in the Abbeyfield house for Lakefield project to see if the Lakefield Lions Club could contribute.

Cindy Windover - Director

Cindy  is a third generation “Selwynite” with a long time connection to many aspects of our local communities, and her desire to see them thrive is a top priority for her.  Cindy is part of many local organizations such as: Kawartha Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, Habitat for Humanity and Lakefield Youth Unlimited.  Affordable housing for seniors is something Cindy is passionate about, and being part of the Abbeyfield House of Lakefield  Team is something she’s incredibly proud of.

Terri Williams Kinghorn - Director

Prior to moving to Lakefield in 2017, Terri held senior management roles at Scotiabank, Dynamic Funds and the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).   She is currently an independent consultant and financial literacy advocate and volunteer. Terri writes the Mature Living column for the Lakefield Herald. Terri is a Board Member and Secretary at the Alzheimer's Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland and Haliburton. 

Colleen Armstrong - Director

Colleen is a retired Registered Nurse from Peterborough Regional Health Centre in 2020 as the Director of Emergency and Medicine programs.  In her role as director, Colleen was able to obtain oversight of Seniors care within the health centre.  A Seniors strategy was developed.  Programs that specifically address seniors and their issues were developed or expanded.  Through her work in medicine and emergency Colleen has seen first hand many individuals who struggle to find affordable, safe, and supportive housing in our community.  Colleen is excited to be a part of the Abbeyfield team as they move forward with this wonderful opportunity for our local seniors.
